Meet Your Dessert Creator
Hi! I'm Tanisha Melvin. AKA...the "Cookie Lady". I'm a baker, entrepreneur, wife, and mom of 3. Recently featured on ABC's Free Enterprise and the local newspaper for my transformational life story.
I am a born and bred New Yorker with Southern roots. Associates Degree, married with kids, and with no prior run-ins with the law, I suddenly found myself falling down a rabbit hole in my late 30s with federal charges that could send me away for 10 years. By the grace of God, I served a little over 1 year. While serving time, I took a culinary course and received my ServSafe certification, bringing me one step closer to starting my own business.
How It All Began
One day my employer hosted a client event and told my department we all had to contribute a dish of some sort...I was assigned cookies. I don't know what it is about a classic chocolate chip cookie, but folks went crazy over them, and I've been baking them ever since...tweaking the recipe all the way.
Fast forward a few years and some hard-headedness on my part, I finally saw what everyone saw in me. So after spending years baking for family & friends and being hard-headed about pursuing it for real, I finally decided to use my talent and devote myself to the business of making people smile with desserts. In 2019, with my hubby on board, I started Addictive Kravings. a licensed bakery focusing on desserts such as cookies and specialty cakes that look good but taste even better.
Honestly, I love all things sweet, so if baking isn’t your thing and you want to wow your guests or loved ones with a unique experience, OR if you just need a personal pick me up, you're in the right place.
